What's better than being a teacher? Nothing matches being parent; especially if you have children who love, admire, and respect you. But teaching is a close second and I combined both in
one amazing year. Marie and I had five children from our previous marriages. She had three; I had two. We didn't have them full-time like we did the twins, Arrianne and Eric. So, we didn't have the same influences on them that we did with the twins. Yet, in all the years we've had together, the one they spent with me, practically 24/7, when they were sixth graders (1976-77), was the happiest of my long (50 years) teaching career.
How they effected the class.
I saw what I did through their eyes as I taught guided imagery, communication training, sensory awareness, meditation, massage, animal dissection and human physiology, and ran a classroom business. It was an extraordinary year.
Present day
It's been unbelievable watching my twins go from wombmates to room-mates to classroom-mates. Now, as adults with their own families, they live only four blocks away from each other and their
children are neighborhood and school-mates.
